Introduction:
Now, you may have a particular skillset or ability that really lends itself to consulting or some form of online coaching. If that’s the case, perfect, why not take your expertise online and share your knowledge for a fee. Don’t think you can “sell” your knowledge; I bet you’re wrong, and I bet it’s costing you $ every month.
1) Online Coaching or Consulting:

The world of online consulting and/or coaching is super broad and you can find an online coach for just about everything from how to calm your nervous pets, to how to seek out and secure a high paying executive position within a company.
The purpose of this blog post is not to help you come up with coaching topics, however.
That would require a deep dive into your specific skills and knowledge and a couple hour 1:1 brainstorming session.
Suffice it to say, I would bet if you have a particular set of skills or knowledge, there is someone; probably lots of people who have questions you could probably answer and who would like to learn the same set of skills you have.
For the sake of conversation, we’ll pick just a couple here:
- Maybe you’re knowledgeable and really good at generating online traffic and visitors to your social media sites. If you wrote a couple lead magnet reports or an eBook or worked with individuals or companies on how to set up their profiles for maximum visibility, I am 100% confident that would sell.
- Let’s take the above example a bit deeper. Perhaps you know how to run social media ads that convert really well. If you can do that, you’ve got a goldmine and can virtually print your own money.
- Or perhaps you’re in Human Resources in your “day job”. Why not do some freelance coaching on the do’s and don’ts around job prospecting and resume writing. I guarantee you’ll find a ton of potential customers on LinkedIn who would love to learn your specific insights into how they can help themselves stand out in the sea of resumes.

Regardless of your particular skillset, there is undoubtedly a group of people out there that would gladly pay you for your knowledge. Just do a little brainstorming around some of the key skills and knowledge you have, then consider what types of products can be created around that knowledge.
For example, can you set up a website and private online community or paid membership site? Can you create an eBook or a series of instructional articles to sell, or perhaps an online course around your particular knowledge? The list of potential products is really only limited to your own imagination. Do an online search around your skillset and see what types of products come up. That should give you a great indication on the potential to make money and the products/services you may be able to sell as an online coach or consultant.
Plus, according to ZipRecruiter, the average annual pay for online coaching is $57,534. That could be higher, depending on the courses you teach, and the rate you charge your clients.
